In this classic photo by Peter Craig, a new floor covering system was installed over a pre-existing vinyl asbestos flooring. The dark rectangle at right is where both floor coverings were removed to expose the concrete with black Cutback adhesive residue. The new flooring is much less permeable than the asbestos floor, trapping the moisture in between the new and old floor.
